Which one of the following was the latest inclusion in the Intangible Cultural Heritage List of UNESCO ?
Show answer
Answer: C. Garba of Gujarat was added to UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2023. Earlier entries were Chhau dance (2010), Kumbh Mela (2017) and Durga Puja in Kolkata (2021). So Garba was the latest of these.
Watch for: Durga Puja was a recent and much-publicised entry, but Garba came after it in 2023.
Why the other options are wrong
- A. Wrong because Chhau was inscribed in 2010.
- B. Wrong because Durga Puja in Kolkata was inscribed in 2021.
- D. Wrong because Kumbh Mela was inscribed in 2017.
